I'm being pretty quiet on here because it's coming up to exam season so if I'm not working I'm uber chilling. I will however take the time to do some posts and come June when I am free I'll be back to regular posts as before!
In the meantime, those of you in the UK right now will I'm sure be enjoying the sunshine, and whether you're revising for exams or chilling with a beer here's a few songs for your ultimate summer chill out :)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Wind Cries Mary
Frankly any Hendrix song would fit in but Wind Cries Mary is one that particularly stands out for me as a chilled out summer song. Smooth guitar, smooth lyrics, smooth vocals... everything about it just screams lazy day in the sun.
Weezer - Island in the Sun
Do I even have to explain?
Best Coast - When I'm With You
LA-based band Best Coast specialize in dreamy sunny tunes and this is no exception. This was the song that got me into them and it is now a permanent fixture on my summer playlist.
Supergrass - Alright
The ultimate summer anthem! More upbeat than the previous tunes this song is an absolute must-have on anyone's sunshine playlist. Fun, young, energising, this song has summer written all over it!
Pixies - Hey
Taking it back down a step now with this more chilled delivery from Pixies. There's something very strange and beautiful about this song that I just love, and the guitar always makes me think of summer.
And one more for good luck...
The Smiths - This Charming Man
Genuinely my favourite song of all time, like the Supergrass song earlier, this is upbeat, fun, and energetic (seems strange for a Morrissey creation...) and is the perfect accompaniment for a frolic in the sunshine!
